If you take my performance or my understanding of the role and my appreciation for story and then dress it in CGI, that I guess becomes an action film.
When I first did 'The Fast and the Furious', I didn't want there to be a sequel on the first one. I thought, 'Why would you rush to do a sequel - just because your first film is successful?'
My gut feeling about sequels is that they should be premeditated: You should try to write a trilogy first or at least sketch out a trilogy if you have any faith in your film.
The whole year I was in LA I got into telemarketing and learned how to make money. Five years later that skill helped me make my first film.
The video game culture was an important thing to keep alive in the film because we're in a new era right now. The idea that kids can play video games like Grand Theft Auto or any video game is amazing. The video games are one step before a whole other virtual universe.
I already played James Dean in a film called Race with Destiny, but it hasn't come out yet.
I run upright mostly when I see daylight, so if you watch film you'll see I don't get hit in the chest much.
Everything's a risk, by the way, these days. Every film you make is a risk. There's no guarantee.
As far as I know, if you take your time, write a good script and make a good film, then give the audience time, they will accept it.
In the industry, you do need some ethics - if one film does well, then thousands get work and money comes back to the industry. I guess the bottomline is, if there are two versions, then the better one will click.
If somebody had started on a remake of French Kiss before I announced my own film, I would have dropped my subject. If someone else starts after me, what am I to do?
To make a film and to sell it to the distributors you need a name.
So it is fair enough that you are paying me what I ask for, because it is my name you are using to sell the film. If the producer gives me a guarantee that he will sell the film at a lower price to the distributors, fair enough, then I will charge less!
You get an image after you act in a film, but it is not necessary that you last long because of that image.
I think Ingmar Bergman, Francoise Truffaut - all these people created images in my mind, beautiful pictures, I loved what was known at that time as the foreign film.
